It is perhaps a little known fact that in 1956 ukulele maestro George Formby took part in top secret drug tests. The results were filmed for a proposed Elstree Comedy entitled “Why Do You Look Like A Donkey Our Vera?”.
It was a step too far for the laughing Lancashire lad – the movie was scrapped and Formby never spoke of it again….remarkably this vintage footage has only just surfaced.
It is sad how the Beatles stole a lot of his early lyrics and never credited him… and before you ask, no, he did not invent the grilling machine.
Turn out nice again hasn’t it?
